Vari-mu compression was the most efficient and fastest gain reduction method back in the 1950s, before the advent of FET and fast Opto compressors. Many types of classic Vari-mu designs exist, yet none are as characterful as the Federal AM864A. Our Black Bottle Compression Amplifier takes this legendary historic design to a new level. Like all of our creations, they take many years to reach their final incarnation, the point at which we are happy to release them into the world. The Black Bottle is no exception, with us now being on the 3rd revision of prototype and getting ever closer to the device that we set out to create.
